Palmer Works Furniture
Matthew Palmer is a furniture maker whose work is defined by clean lines, natural materials, and a deep sense of purpose. As the founder of Palmer Works, an LGBTQ+ friendly workshop and studio, Matthew has built a brand that values inclusion, integrity, and timeless craftsmanship. His pieces are known for their quiet strength—beautiful, functional, and made to last.

Matthew’s journey into woodworking was shaped not only by a love of design but also by profound personal transformation. For years, he lived with the daily challenges of Type 1 diabetes, managing the physical and emotional toll of a disease that affected every part of his life. That changed when he underwent a life-saving pancreas and kidney transplant—a complex, high-risk procedure that offered the chance to live free from insulin dependence for the first time in since he was a child.

The transplant was more than a medical milestone—it marked a turning point in how Matthew approached his life and work. Recovery was slow and humbling, but it gave him space to reflect, refocus, and reconnect with his craft on a deeper level. Emerging from that experience, he returned to his workshop with renewed energy, a sharper appreciation for the present, and a commitment to creating work that reflects resilience, beauty, and intention.

Every piece Matthew builds carries a sense of that journey—of endurance, healing, and the quiet strength it takes to begin again. Through Palmer Works Furniture, he continues to make furniture that tells stories, honors individuality, and creates space—both literal and symbolic—for people to feel at home.
